about

Double Vanity brings a level-up offering; a boarding call and in-flight game-changer, with their new single Escalator.

Alight the escalator and automated trajectory into a brave new world of beautiful, haunting melodies and paroxysm of emotion. Layered synths, swelling guitar and lush, harmonised vocals meet for a moment of overexposure with minimal wave pulsed rhythm. It's lyrical grace is weighted with raw emotional trace.

Lead vocalist Zec Zechner explains, “Escalator thematically questions the daily grind, using linear metal stairs of a bustling escalator, appearing and disappearing like a horizontal rotisserie”.

Escalator is their second release from their upcoming full-length vinyl release out in late 2020.

The Escalator single and video will be released June 20 as part of Melbourne’s Leaps and Bounds Music Festival with a series of happenings including a windowfront performance, a virtual video launch party followed by a Q&A video.

The clip was directed by New York filmmaker Stephanie Gould, with visual and performance/dance artist Billi Lime.

Escalator is a collaborative online and IRL overexposed lense on the human-centre meeting point between artist, venue, filmmaker and aural practitioner user journeys into an unknown vanishing point.

about

Double Vanity Melbourne, Australia

Melbourne three-piece Double Vanity are all dim lighting, velvet curtains and crystal tears.

A dystopian dream within a dream into the virtual human centre toward a brave new world of ‘airportwave.’

Drama inducing synths, drippin' bass grooves and reverb soaked guitar. Out front, a delay drenched diva over the slow beating heart of the analogue drum machine.
